About

Rico Benning

I am an electrical engineering student at ETH Zürich. Most of my work starts from a question I cannot quite leave alone and becomes useful only when it turns into a model, an implementation, an experiment, and a clear account of what worked.

Current Focus

I am pursuing an MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at ETH Zürich, advised by Prof. Richard Hahnloser. My latest semester thesis, completed with Prof. Cong Ling at Imperial College London and Prof. Hans-Andrea Loeliger at ETH Zürich, studied finite-parameter experiments for the Syzygy distinguisher in code-based cryptography.

What Connects the Work

The projects differ in domain, but they usually ask the same kind of question: what structure is hidden in the data or system, and can a careful implementation make it measurable? That is the thread through my work in coding theory, neural data, planning, and 3D reconstruction.
